Vinod Joshi:
Gujarati વિનોદ જોશી; born On13 August 1955) is a postmorden Gujarati poet, writer and critic from Gujarat. His notable works include Parantu, a collection of Geets (lyric poetry) (1984), Shikhandi, a long narrative poem based on Shikhandi a character from the Mahabharata (1985), Radio Natak: Swarup ane Siddhant (Radio Drama: Form and Theory, an abridged Ph.D. thesis) (1986), Tundil-tundika, a form of padyavarta, a Gujarati medieval literary genre (1987), and Zalar Vage Zoothadi, a collection of poems (1991). He is the recipient of the Jayant Pathak Puraskar (1985), Critic's award (1986), Kavisvar Dalpatram Award (2013), Sahitya Gaurav Award (2015), Narsinh Mehta Award (2018), and Kalapi Award (2018).

 Structures:-
He published this poem in 2018. This metrical poem composed in prabandha form with seven cantos, 49 chapters and 1800 lines. It is based on Draupadi, one of the characters of Hindu epic Mahabharata. Here poet tried to explain Draupadi's feeling and thoughts. As a part of languages I can find that poet used figurative language, personification, meters, Chopai and Dohra in ' Sairandhri '. Here poet used Shrigar rasa also. Moreover I added that ' language always applied and each language has own valluations '. Normally creation of poem is reflection of poet's thoughts and reflection of background language. So here Vinod joshi born in rural area so He handed down his rural words in poem.

  • Sairandhri:-

We know that this poem based on Mahabharta. In Mahabharata one part of ' Virat Parva '. It's call ' Agnat Vas ' which living into hidden form and without self-sameness wherever. Here question is that What's purpose of remaining in hidden way ? Draupadi was daughter of king Drupad. She known with variuos name into  Mahabharta like as Krishna, Yagnaseni, Paanchali...etc. Behind her name responsible various story and problem. But here Vinod Joshi presented droupadi as lover of Karna. As a queen of Hastinapur Draupadi How she became Dashi during in Agnat Vas? and How she faced various problem in her life ?.  It's very interesting way interpreted by him.
  •  Loss identity :-                                             Generally We find that Human being has hidden ambition of fame and power position. People many time work for praise and promotion. Even government make strictly rule of Adhar card. Government work to think about public identity. Why need identity in nowadays ? People prefer to die for save indistinguishably. Here Sairandhi has not proper one identity. She played vital roll in Mahabharata without one certain identity. She loss her identity with sacrifice of body for five male pandavas. Is it right for her ?  Same as happening in our present life also. When we separate away from our selves at that time we lost our root form and personal identity. In Mahabharta She don't raise question for her identity who has not freedom to express own desire. She can't protect herself with praise. In the poem she was powerful woman described by him. This poem explain about only one woman condition, emotions and feelings, not included male character here.
    •
    • Love for Karna :-
In the poem different way interpreted love story of  Sairandhri and karna rather than Mahabharta's story. This poem represented that her first choice for love is Karna and second choice is Arjuna. So here Karna & Droupadi both are love each other but they don't share publicly. Same condition we find in our society. Many time young boy and girl has not proper platform to said who is their true lover ? Then they chose bad way for satisfaction. As a woman it is difficult task to say in Indian family . So here both are remain with hidden themselves. They don't tell to other about relationship. Karna was brave man although he had hidden his ownership. Poet's one objects of the create poem is that woman has to power to fight without hesitation.

Academic visiting : Ankur School (Bhavnagar)

Academic visiting: Ankur school {Bhavnagar}

Before two day, We visited 'Ankur School' at Sardarnagar in Bhavnagar. I have visited this school three times bt, first Time I went to there through the organization by the Department of English ( MKBU). Once upon a time in India Disable child has not proper space in education journey and even in a family membership. I saw mostly people misbehave with any types of disable children and person also. So My question is that, Why society hate with  them ? May be you will listen the name of " Stephen Hawking". He was Physically disable. He can't wear own clothe himself but he worked a lot as a Scientific researcher. Can you imagine how he do it ?. Every person has own hidden ability but Who is searching this ability?

The students of the department of English visited ' Ankur School ' for special Children. Film Scrining Charlie Chaplin

Thinking Activity : On movie "Charlie Chalin in Modern Times..."

Image result for charlie chaplin movies modern times

Modern Times Poster Movie B 11x17 Charlie Chaplin Paulette Goddard Henry Bergman Stanley Sandford

Charlie Chaplin’s films are mostly minimum use of language. During his time known age of ‘Silent era film’. So He said many things and critical view without language. It means that he try to say in movie through facial expression, body languages, gesture – posture. So I can say that his films like as Controversy film. He was played roll as an actor, comedian, Director and critics also who working in motion pictures spanned from 1914 to 1967.

→The Theme Of The Movie

⇢Comedy

⇢Tragedy

⇢Joblessness

⇢Idersrialism

⇢Gender Eqalitiy

⇢Hardwork

⇢Imagination

⇢Think Positive

⇢Happyness

Symbolism

     ⇢ Dawn

I liked opening of film also because Movie started with ringing clock- running Sheep – Coming crowd of people like as Sheep also. It is nice organization by director. Another thing I can found development of technology and machine like as, CCTV Camera, Automatic machine for eating food. It is symbol of Industrialization and madness for machinery. How technologies help us? And how it’s harmful? There are good example and experiment in the film. In this movie I saw controlled by capitalist people on laborer. They don’t do work but also give only order and sit in front of CCTV Camera. Laborer has no time for deep breath.

  •  Many times Department of English organized academic movie screening. So that Nowadays We will learn in sem-3 Paper no. 9 ‘Modernist English Literature’ by Pro. Dilip Barad Sir Who decide to See movie

One scene is ‘flag of red color’. Our hero picks up flag at that time crowd come behind him and he became leader of group but we know that police caught him and he closed into jail. Many comic scenes in cell. One is when police searching for smuggled ‘nose-powder.’ It’s very interesting part. There was a one scene in the prison of knitting. When woman had not freedom for writing or express their opinions or feelings they were doing knitting also. It was also symbolism.
Last part of the movie both are get steady (permanent) job in cafe but police found them and both are run away from there. Here I can find that camera don’t close up of women body. It means that during that time society and people haven’t hunger for women body. So this film is example of beyond modern female working. At the End of movie very symbolic way like as “Dawn”. It is symbol of new days and also hopes. Both are walking on the road. Road also passed through mountain which indicates happy journey.

Thanks to Pro. Dilip Barad sir for organizing this movie screening session and thanks for give ideas of new way looking of movie.

I hope you like my blog

    Thank  you

DescriptionIvor Armstrong Richards, known as I. A. Richards, was an English educator, literary critic, and rhetorician whose work contributed to the foundations of the New Criticism, a formalist movement in literary.

culture and post modernism

This blog is about my response on online discussion on Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's Academy Award for her documentary, "A girl in the River"

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's academy Award for her documentry, A girl in the River, has been much celebrated at home. Deservedly so.

Like her first Oscar-winning documentary, saving face, which spotlit the horror of acid attack, this too is a visceral, urgent piece of film-making. But alongside the jubilation is another view, persistent and petty, that is inevitably voiced at such occasions. Widely shared by politicians, journalists, religious leader, in short 'patriots' of all stripes, this opinion has it that sharmeen  has done a grave disservice to her country by highlighting the misery of ordinary Pakistanis to further her own career. Hence, the twitter trend: DisownSharmeen.

Why, he asked, 'had Adiga chosen not to write about the so many nice, nice things that are happening in India? The same critique was also trotted out when Danny Boyle's film, Slumdog Millionaire, won big at the Oscar. or when Malala won the Nobel prize. Or Sharmeen her first Oscar. Really, why can't  all these people just Photoshop our reality? why can't the hide our flaws and emphasize our virtues so we can win respect and admiration of Western societies? many 'concerned citizens' in Pakistan ask why Sharmeen did not make a film about that tireless humanitarian, Edhi, or better still, about the victims of drone strikes, cataloging American injustice, rather than our own.

Truth wins: The buzz around Sharmeen's film has prompted Nawaz Sharif to say that the practice of honor killings in Pakistan should come to an end.

  • Cultural Study:-                  The prime duty of any literary writer is to present the contemporary issues and picture of nation. Everyone has the right to voice and freedom of expression. So they are free to portrayed the condition of their country. But many follower of ideology and political discourse try to banned this kind of harsh reality, because they do not bear the bad images of their culture and country.
  • We have recently example of Film Padmavat in which the group of people banned film because the do not like that people see about their culture. Another one is the documentry film "Nirbhaya gang rape" which was banned by government because they believe that our new generation become spoiled because of the movie.

  • Post-colonialism:
general belief of the people is that writer must write about the glory and positive side of their country, and we Asian believe that western people give awards on our bed images and they happy because western people feel happy when they see our poor condition. But this is not right, we have many examples from the western works:

  • Oliver Twist
  • Sense and sensibility
  • The west land etc

These all works portrayed the reality of the society. In 'Oliver Twist', Dickens portrayed the poor law of Victorian Britain that how the cruel law for the poor and orphan children. After the publication of the novel 'Oliver Twist' British government pass the reformation bill and law about child laboring. So, we can say that is is not about western people that they feel happy on our poor condition.

if we want to reform our poor condition, this kind of work is very important to open the eyes of power. I agree with this kind of way to show our reality. because such a work awake people as well as the power to stop this kind superstition and cruel ideological
